Until 2018, the ECCOMAS Conference on Computational Solid and Structural Mechanics (ECCM) and the ECCOMAS Conference on Computational Fluid Dynamics (ECFD), together with the ECCOMAS Congress, constituted the three main scientific events of ECCOMAS, organized in a quadrennial cycle. By decision of the ECCOMAS Managing Board in 2018, the quadrennial ECCM-ECFD conference series was merged with the ECCOMAS Congress series to form a biennial cycle of ECCOMAS Congresses.
Previous ECCOMAS Conferences on Computational Solids, Structures and Coupled Problems in Engineering (ECCM) were held in Munich, Germany (1999), Cracow, Poland (2001), Lisbon, Portugal (2006) and in Paris, France (2010). Previous ECCOMAS Conferences on Computational Fluid Dynamics (ECFD) were held in Stuttgart, Germany (1994), in Athens, Greece (1998), in Swansea, Wales, United Kingdom (2001), in Egmond aan Zee, The Netherlands (2006) and in Lisbon, Portugal (2010).
The ECCM V and ECFD VI Conferences were jointly organized in Barcelona, Spain, on 20 – 25 July 2014. To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the European Community on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences (ECCOMAS), the 6th European Conference on Computational Mechanics (Solids, Structures and Coupled Problems) (ECCM 6) and the 7th European Conference on Computational Fluid Dynamics (ECFD 7) was jointly organized in Glasgow, UK on 11 -15 June 2018.
